An introduction to “Snakes of Kerala; Belief, Treatment, Protection” by Ashish Jose Ambat
All through history, snakes have been objects of fantasies, myths and superstitions among Malayalees. They have been considered as both good and evil, and have sometimes even been attributed supernatural powers. Sustaining these superstitious beliefs has, and will continue to, lead way to commercial and other kinds of exploitation of the clueless by fraudsters. This presentation is an attempt to debunk such “popular” hoaxes about snakes, introduce some of the commonly seen snakes in Kerala and throw light on the do’s and don’ts do snake bites.FREETHINKERS MEET 2018 Organized by Freethinkers facebook group & Kerala Freethinkers forum on Aug 11,12 at Town Hall ,Ernakulam
